Arani is a town in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. It is located in the bank of Kamandala Naaga river and it is 40 kms from Vellore, 150 kms from Chennai (State Capital) and 60 kms from Thiruvannamalai (District Capital). The name 'Arani' is came from the name Araneeyam which means 'forest'. Later the town is used by Arcot Navabh's for their military training campus. There is also a Palace near by town which is in a village called Sathya Vijaya Nagaram (S.V Nagaram), which is now used by the Agriculture Department.

The Holy Pilgrim's place near by is Padaiveedu. Sri Renugammbal Temple and Sri Venugopalaswamy temple are there.

Arani is famous for Rice and Silk Sarees.

The town is popular for its Silk-Weaving community. Silk is a rich fabric used to make Silk Sarees. Saree is a unique dress worn by the women in India and some of its neighbouring countries.

The town is also well known for its Paddy and Rice Business. There are around 200 modern rice mills in and around the town itself. Arani is being the number one of revenue income in Tiruvannamalai District, Tamilnadu.

Though the town is not well known outside of Tamilnadu, a bulk of India's silk apparels is produced by the people of this town. Kanchipuram, the top most Silk Saree producer in India is situated 60 kms from Arani. Mostly, handloom technique is used for weaving, though recently some have resorted to mechanized method. In India, Silk Sarees are considered to be ornamental possessions. The Postal Index Number (PIN) of Arani is 632301 and the STD code is 04173.
